GLADWYNE, PA – Renovations are underway at the Waverly Heights Life Plan Community in Gladwyne as the retirement community looks to expand its personal care and memory support availability. Construction to its Health Care Center aims to resize and position accommodations within the building to meet the demands of an industry shift away from skilled nursing and towards personal care.
In February, Waverly’s Memory Support rooms moved to new quarters on the first floor of the Health Care Center, where skilled nursing rooms had already been reduced. Memory Support suites that were vacated in that process are being repurposed as new Personal Care Suites.
Windsor at Waverly Heights is a licensed personal care home promoting independence and choice by providing just the right amount of support necessary to cultivate and maintain a healthy lifestyle. This environment allows individuals who need some assistance with daily care needs to continue to live safely on their own. Devonshire at Waverly Heights is a licensed personal care home specializing in supporting the individual needs of those with memory loss. Residents of Devonshire benefit from a fully structured day while receiving assistance with activities of daily living and medication management.
“As has happened nationally, we are not seeing the demand for skilled nursing that we used to. Hospitals are not sending patients to rehabilitation in nursing homes as they did in the past. We have made strategic decisions to stay ahead of the curve and meet the needs of seniors in our community,” said Thomas Garvin, Waverly Heights President and CEO.
Waverly has contracted C. Raymond Davis & Sons, Inc. as its general contractor for the project, which is projected to wrap up in the summer of 2022.
